Matritva Sadan (Obstetrics & Gynaecology)
Jankikund
Chikitsalaya developed its obstetrics and gynaecology department as its main
pillar of services,
The prime
objective of the department is to provide safe motherhood and child birth. It
also encourages couples and families to adopt family planning measures. The
Department has two labour rooms, a well equipped Operation Theatre, a special
Neonatal ward, private wards and a General
Ward. There are specialist doctors available 24 hours for any emergency. The
Department is dedicated to providing treatment and care to the rural women and
children. |

The Department specialized in performing Open and Laproscopic surgeries using the latest techniques along with other general surgical procedures. The surgeons at Jankikund Chikitsalaya are also equipped to performing removal of kidney stones, gall bladder stones, laparotomies, hernia, hydrocoel and prostrate surgeries which are performed routinely under the Department. Advanced non-invasive techniques are practiced to remove kidney stones. The Department also takes up tumor removal and some cancer treatment.
The Department
has endeavored to provide surgeries at nominal charges, keeping surgery costs
two-time less than other hospitals. Nobody who doesn’t have the capacity to pay
is denied services. The Department has applied a number of cost-effective
measures to overcome cost of surgery as an accessibility barrier to seeking
healthcare. |

The Department provides quality dental treatment at affordable cost to all who access services at the hospital. The Department also organizes dental camps on a regular basis to reach out services to the rural populace in difficult to reach areas. The first dental camp was organized by the renowned dentist Dr. Labh Shankar Shukla, 30 years ago. Regular dental camps are conducted by Dr. Harshad Bhai Joshi.

Rural
health care forms the second core pillar of services offered under the ambit of
Jankikund Chikitsalaya. Reaching out healthcare to the rural populace has been a
prime objective of the Trust and the Jankikund Chikitsalaya has been working
tirelessly to achieve this objective. Village health camps are organized on a
regular basis in remote difficult to reach areas to reach general healthcare to
the doorstep of the communities. The Sadguru Nursing School organizes health
education programs in the villages surrounding the Hospital to create an
awareness about diseases and promote health seeking behaviour and preventive
care in the village communities. |

The homeopathy department was initiated as a department of alternative medicine in 1978 and provides a range of services to patients with chronic and debilitating diseases. The department draws a lot of patients from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

With the growing need and benefits of alternative medicine, Jankikund
Chikitsalaya started the Departments of Ayurveda and Naturopathy. The Department
offers a complete range of ayurvedic and naturopathy treatments. They are widely
known for the treatment of abdominal problems, arthritis and hypertension
offered. Naturopathy, a sub-speciality of Ayurveda was inaugurated in 2002. The
Department has cured a large number of patients since then owing also to its
prominence of using natural herbs and oils. |

Free Plastic surgery camps are also organized annually under the aegis of the hospital to correct mostly face deformities including cleft lip, cleft palate and contracture mostly caused due to burns. The plastic surgery camps are carried out under the deft skills of renowned surgeons that include Dr. Vibhakar Baxi, New York and Dr. Ajay Hariyani, Mumbai with their able surgical team. Dr. Dasgupta from Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai and Dr. R.K. Nema from the District Hospital from Satna have rendered invaluable assistance and guidance in providing anaesthetic care to various patients.

Looking at the magnitude of the problem the administrators of JKC decided to
establish a diagnostic department in 2007 and a gastro scope was procured in
March 2007. The Gastroscope picks up abdominal disorders till the upper portion
of small intestine. 184 upper GI endoscopies have been performed
successfully till date by the department. During the checkups cases of stomach
and esophagus cancer have also been detected at an early stage. |

Hospital Based Programs on ENT are regularly organized with the support of SEVA Foundation and a long term volunteer of the JKC, Dr. Samir Bhatt from Boston Hospital, USA. These camps provide a unique opportunity of increasing the awareness of the local surgeons including those at the district level. These camps are beneficial for early identification of problems, low cost treatment as well as for follow-up of patients. Over than 500 patients benefit from these services and on an average 90 surgical interventions are performed.

The Sadguru Blood bank
provides well-organized blood transfusion services with quality systems in all
functional areas. Situated in one of the remotest regions of the country, the
transfusion services caters to a population of over 100kms. The blood bank
provides vital support to obstetric conditions such as anemia, haemorrhage,
antipartum, post partum etc.
